End of life support in Newark & Sherwood: The Butterfly Service

Facing the end of life is something many of us will encounter - either for ourselves, or while supporting someone we love. Alongside medical care, practical and emotional support can make a real difference for individuals and families during this time.

The Butterfly Service (a Your CVS initiative and part of the local End of Life Care Together services) offers non-clinical support to help people and their families during the final year of life—so they can focus on comfort, dignity, and the moments that matter. 

How the Butterfly Service can help

Support can include:

  • 1-to-1 befriending

  • Friendship groups and social activities

  • Benefits advice

  • Support for carers

  • Transport to medical appointments

  • Information on hospices

  • Bereavement support

  • Prescription collection and shopping help
